What are the best vitamins for your skin?
There are many natural skin care claims about vitamins A, B, or C - mostly that these are the new miracles you need for your skin.
Unfortunately the miracles usually don't quite happen. We either see no improvement at all or at best, there is a brief change for the better before our skin declines again.
So why don’t these vitamin products give significant and long-term positive improvements?
To answer that we need to take a good look at the true origins of vitamins used in most natural skin care. That is, are they synthetic (factory made) vitamins or vitamins naturally found in plants?
There is a difference. Though synthetic vitamins are chemically identical to plant-derived (natural) vitamins, they usually don’t produce identical results.
Synthetic vitamins in skin care
- retinol or retinoids (vitamin A)
- nicotinamide or niacinamide (vitamin B),
- ascorbic acid and its derivatives (vitamin C)
- tocopherol (vitamin E)
All of these synthetic vitamins are made in factories using industrial processes and can have significant side effects for your skin.
(Read about possible side effects of synthetic vitamins in skin care here.)
We believe the only skin care with vitamins that will really transform skin is that which contains vitamins as part of whole plant extracts.
This is because the vitamins are naturally teamed with other, synergistic nutrients.
Vitamins - the same for skin care as with food
A study[i] done in 2019 found that eating a normal, healthy diet with an adequate intake of nutrients was associated with a reduction in all cause mortality when the nutrient source was foods and concluded that “there are beneficial associations with nutrients from foods that aren't seen with supplements”.
"Beneficial associations with nutrients from foods that aren't seen with supplements"
It’s just the same with skin care.
Effective amounts of natural vitamins from herbs and plants give a far superior result for skin than do products that add synthetic vitamin supplements.
Our range of Simplicité products contain carefully sourced plant concentrates in effective amounts and balanced formulations so you know that what you are putting on your skin is going to be nourishing and natural.
